About this opportunity:
This position is responsible for providing set up and break down for Community Center programs and group rentals.
Monitors Community Center facility while programs/events are taking place to ensure safety and cleanliness.
Serves as a backup to the Community Center Program Aides as needed.
Plans, and provides activities and childcare services for school-age children participating in the Before/After School and/or Summer Day Camp Programs; plans, develops, and facilitates recreational activities and play time; prepares and maintains program records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the community center and Salvation Army property.
Key responsibilities:
• Assists in setting up the community center for program and events; sets up tables, chairs and equipment as needed,
• Monitors facility while programs and events are taking place for safety and cleanliness.
• Cleans any unoccupied areas while programs/events are taking place.
• Cleans facility after programs or events have taken place.
• Returns space to original set up or arranges the facility for the next program/event.
• Verifies all entrances are closed and locked after all programs/events conclude.
• Provides leadership and constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
• Facilitates activities for school age children; ensures that activities are age appropriate, stimulating, fun and safe for the children.
• Organizes and supervises recreational activities; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground.
• Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.
).
• Assists in facilitating and supervising summer, spring and winter Day Camp Programs.
What we are looking for in you:
• High School Diploma or G.
E.
D.
AND
• Two years’ experience teaching or facilitating child development/recreational programs OR
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
• Valid State driver’s license may be required.

and First Aid Certification
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform event set up/break down and light custodial work.
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
